Remarks on Schur's Conjecture
Let P be a set of n points in R. It was conjectured by Schur that the maximum number of (d− 1)-dimensional regular simplices of edge length diam(P ), whose every vertex belongs to P , is n. We prove this statement under the condition that any two of the simplices share at least d− 2 vertices and we conjecture that this condition is always satisfied.
متن کاملRemarks on Frankl's conjecture
First a few reformulations of Frankl’s conjecture are given, in terms of reduced families or matrices, or analogously in terms of lattices. These lead naturally to a stronger conjecture with a neat formulation which might be easier to attack than Frankl’s. To this end we prove an inequality which might help in proving the stronger conjecture.
متن کاملRemarks on BMV conjecture
We show that for fixed A,B, hermitian nonnegative definite matrices, and fixed k the coefficients of the t in the polynomial Tr(A + tB) is positive if TrAB > 0 and m > N(A,B, k).
متن کاملA note on the double-critical graph conjecture
A connected n-chromatic graph G is double-critical if for all the edges xy of G, the graph G−x−y is (n−2)-chromatic. In 1966, Erdős and Lovász conjectured that the only double-critical n-chromatic graph is Kn. This conjecture remains unresolved for n ≥ 6. In this short note, we verify this conjecture for claw-free graphs G of chromatic number 6.
متن کاملCritical Remarks on “Mystical Aesthetics” The Case of Persian Painting
There are several texts pertaining to Perisian painting which explain its aesthetics on the basis of mysticism and the notion of imaginal world. This point of view bears some methodological problems. Some of the prominent scholars (Corbin, Burckhardt, Nasr, Ringgenberg et al.) refering to Ibn ‘Arabi’s mystical notions, have tried to show that the specific aesthetics o...
